On the topic of beef, how did the Poor Righteous Teachers situation evolve?
I signed Poor Righteous Teachers to their first deal to Diversity records. Now mind you, Tony D is producing YZ and Tony D is producing PRT and I think Tony really got upset about me doing business outside of Two Tone [Productions]. Two Tone was started because I grabbed Tony’s hand and said “yo, you’re making beats, let’s start a business. We gotta do more than make beats and make demos.” So that’s the only reason why we had these misconceptions, we’d fight like brothers. But the truth is he started a company with me because there wouldn’t be a Two Tone productions if I didn’t say we gotta do this shit. So when I did Diversity, I think inside he was just like “how could you do this?” But we never really had that conversation. Needless to say, all the while that Tony D was producing my shit, he’s in Wise’s ear, telling him all kinds of foul shit about us. “How you putting this record out on Diversity, you should be doing it with somebody else?” And they were green kids, just getting in the game and I would talk to Wise and it got to the point where we weren’t really able to communicate.
