Haven’t seen this online yet (FIRST), but it finally hit the streets in Philly today after much anticipation. The tape is a little overlong but there’s some uh flamerz on there for sure. Guest shots from Young Dro, Black Thought, Gillie, Freeway, Red Cafe, Oschino and more. Download. Tracklisting after the jump. (more…)

Late pass, but this Oschino tape is a lot better than anyone could have expected. Some of that I just wanted some Boston Market strife from his State Property days remains, but he’s also picked up on Meek Mill’s stuffy nosed rapid fire flow. If this is the new style for Philly then the city has my full endorsement. The does tape slip up a little when he tries to make hits (Philly, in the words of your fearless leader STOP! Chill! with the club records.) Props to Emynd for the assist.

Hit the jump to see Q. “Queen” Latifah gnawing a flip cam on behalf of Meek’s long awaited Flamerz 3. (more…)

Average Cat” is just sad. Beans should have either gone for Jigga’s jugular or just left this dispute between him and the Roc-A-Lawyers. The Game opened the door for these scorned lover rants disguised as diss records and that ain’t cool to be.

But the problem is bigger than just the public airing of family drama, it’s that Beans mistook the Roc for family at all. (Jay predictably responded by talking business.) But can you blame him. Listening to all these old freestyles it certainly sounds like a familial bond Maybe Jay changed his pitch up when he became a business icon a few years later. Or maybe he was just a great actor. Whatever the case these tapes remain some of the better radio ciphers of the decade.

Shouts to whoever ripped these back then, in all their 128 kbps glory. Hit the jump for more commentary and the rest of the video clips of the first session, courtesy of Cipha Sounds. (more…)

Kobe Bryant f/ Beanie Sigel & Black Thought – “Philly Live
From KOBE (Columbia Unreleased, 2001?)
Dutch & Spade f/ Beanie Sigel – “Dead Man Walking
from For My Family (Untertainment Unreleased, 2001?)

215HipHop’s got a very intimate (pause?) Beanie Sigel interview [LINK FIXED], talking about his early days as a graffiti writer and his elementary talent show performance with Black Thought. He also mentions “conversations now heavy” about the long rumored Mac & Brad album with Scarface, and even admits to State Property gear being the Chaps to Roc-A-Wear’s Ralph Lauren.

I also uploaded a few random old Beans tracks. The strange posse cut “Philly Live,” where I was particularly displeased with Kobe’s presence, but whatever. Not sure who the fourth rapper is on here. The other joint was from Major Figgas members Dutch & Spade’s never released Untertainment album For My Family.
