New Rap Music

I haven’t posted new raps in a minute, so sorry if I’m late to the party with some of these.

Newish Clipse produced by The Synth, a nearly impossible to google Atlanta duo who self identify as “emotronic” on their myspace page. Uh oh. Maybe they should enter this Scion Dubstep studio competition I have been hearing so much about? Either way the track is pretty crazy, all Tom Breihan synth gurgles and definitely better than anything that the Clipse has spit over all year. Or maybe it’s just shocking in light of how decidedly safe most hip hop production has been over the past six months. It seemed like 808s and Heartbreak, for all its faults, was primed to push a generation into making more adventurous beats the way “A Millie” almost did last year. Instead all it did was inspire a few people to make beats that sound exactly like 808s and Heartbreak the same way “A Millie” only birthed a bunch of inferior knock offs. Anyway, I could do without the Rasta Impasta on the hook but otherwise this jams.
Lil B – “I’m God“

I got a chance to link up with the Based God himself this weekend. He showed me a cgi picture of an uprooted castle floating amongst clouds and said “that’s the kind of music I want to make.” Then he played this song. The beat, courtesy of someone named Clams Casino, is total weightless and aerial madness. B is sort of on cruise control, but that’s really the best way he rides. (Via Digital Dripped) (more…)
