jneiro is not the best rapper of all time, but who gives a fuck. this is straight heat as far as i am concerned. four thumbs up. is there more to come? pause.
it would be great to hear more southern dudes go to left and more left dudes getting less scientific. but that’s me.
fine find.

on a somewhat related note I was listening to Still Standing the other day and really noticed Khujo’s verse on “Fly Away” for the 1st time? WTF? I guess it shouldn’t be surprising given the background some of those dudes have in the church but I, naively it seems, put Goodie Mob above that kind of ignorant nonsense (and Cee-Lo is, from what I’ve read, though I have to agree that Gnarls Barkley sucks). anyways, w/out iniating an argument w/the homophobic % of CB readers I was wondering – is Khujo attacking a specific individual on that verse (which is what is sounds like)? or is he just spitting some virulent homophobia for its’ own sake? either way it’s hella disappointing.

or how about “all a’s” from previously mentioned low-point world party:
“Everytime son, rhymes too pretty’ll get your mascara smeared
When they did, my buddy Spanky I bust out in tears
The world would be a better place to live, if it was less queers
I still see, punk ass bitches.. bitches..”

What’s wrong with virulent homophobia? But anyway, a decent song. I never heard of the other guy, he’s pretty good.

That song is a great news. I was growing a little impatient of hearing from that project. I have a Jneiro Album, that “three pieces puzzle”, and it’s pretty good. Not too much experimental nor complex.

^@david – uh oh, 14 yr old e-thug on the loose. yes, surely anyone who thinks homophobia is as backwards as racism must be gay. learn to spell & maybe you won’t sound so monstrously stupid.
@slizzard – yup, I saw that. I kinda wonder if it’s just Khujo’s thing, being that it’s his verse both times. I mean, whatever. I’m not going to stop listening to Soul Food – it’s just disappointing b/c it’s Goodie Mob – if it was your typical studio gangster it’d just be par for the course. anyway, Cee-Lo’s take on it: “I didn’t like it but I didn’t want to censor another member of the group. I told him he had the right to be honest, but he didn’t have the right to judge. I don’t want anyone to hate me for the way I am and I don’t hate anyone else for the way they are. I want to apologize for that line and step away from it.” in any event I’m done talking about it.

maybe if the lyrics were over the busta-less dilla beats you wrote of a minute ago, both’d be better. prolly not. the fart noise was entertainment. “next shit” isn’t analogous with noisier knock-off. farts usually = your next shit.

HIPHOP IS FREEDOM OF SPEECH…IF KHUJO DOESNT LIKE FAGGETS THEN HE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SAY SO….HES NOT OUT THERE MAKING HOUSE MUSIC TALKING ABOUT IT IS HE????? NICE WAY TO ARGUE BY TRYING TO GUESS MY AGE BUT THAT DONT WORK….ITS NOT JUST KHUJOS THING ….THERES PLENTY OF RAP AND DANCEHALL LYRICS DISSEN GAYS HOMIE…..

He’s not being homophobic on this track, JJ is massively anti-cursing and bullshit drug talk and negativity so I think maybe that whole thing is irrelevant here….
It’s a banger. I can’t wait for the album. POW!

I’m sorry, man, but you’re gonna have to let me do a write-in for this poll. Obviously, not many people are going to seriously defend discrimination, but does that mean that “no homo” and lots of other homophobic lyrics aren’t funny for what they are? I don’t “dislike” homophobia in hip-hop in general because it seems pointless to create further discrimination, but what Kanye did was kind of interesting and maybe positive.
What I think is more harmful is stuff like GLAAD’s protests against dudes like Sizzla. I mean, do they really think that kind of stuff is going to create dialogue and help them reach their goal? Not that homophobia in hip-hop (or other forms of music like dancehall) isn’t “harmful,” but it exists, so there’s no point in simply wishing otherwise and getting excessively mad about it. Nahmean?

My take= Hip Hop is Id-driven music half the time. Virtually none of it (’Hey young world’,'watch roger do his thing’ excluded) is politically correct. I’m not saying folks shouldn’t take offense or speak up, all that is fair game. But imo there is a context- rappers often position themselves as the anti-social, critic of society, dismissive of everyone. Also part of being a rapper is assuming this hyper masculine persona. So in that context I wouldn’t even take all references to gays as being literal, a lot of rappers talk like anybody who isn’t a straight up killer is a bitch, a faggot, etc.

well since nobody else has brought it up, i guess i’ll be the first to give jneiro massive props. the dude is NICE. good with the gab, and his production skills are next level, on par with greats…just let his shit percolate for a couple more years and people will recognize. plus he seems to have a decent world view and keeps good company as far as the industry is concerned.
