He Got So Much Poll…*
*AYO!
Best Wild Pitch Album Poll Results
# Main Source – Breaking Atoms (34%, 117 Votes)
# OC – Word… Life (21%, 71 Votes)
# Lord Finesse – The Funky Technician (10%, 34 Votes)
# The Coup – Genocide & Juice (10%, 33 Votes)
# Gang Starr – No More Mr. Nice Guy (9%, 29 Votes)
# The Coup – Kill My Landlord (6%, 20 Votes)
# Ultramagnetic MCs – The Four Horsemen (5%, 18 Votes)
# Chill Rob G – Ride The Rhythm (2%, 8 Votes)
# Hard Knocks – School Of Hard Knocks (2%, 6 Votes)
# UMCs – Fruits Of Nature (1%, 5 Votes)
Breaking Atoms for the win, which makes sense because it’s quite clearly the labels finest moment and on some days it’s the best rap album of all time. Word… Life took second, which is to be expected, though I personally find that record a little overrated. A couple great tracks but mostly filler. Finesse narrowly beat out The Coup. I suspec that the presence of KML may have split the vote on that one. Surprised to see Hard Knocks beat out the UMCs, but anyone who voted for either is dreadfully incorrect. Sorry guys, I must defend the canon. The moat that Extra P dug can only do so much on it’s own.
The voter turnout was a little lower than usual, I can only imagine that’s because some of you haven’t been fortunate enough to hear many or all of these releases. You’ll have no excuse come Tuesday.
Hopefully this weeks poll will finally settle yet another barber shop argument as to whether Pitchfork or Murder Dog is the greatest music publication. And don’t worry, this is an anonymous poll. I know some of you e-thuggers secretly listen to the Vampire Weekend, but your secret’s safe with me.

you could always call them surveys, instead of saying “ayo”… good luck finding lines that you can change up, though.

Breaking Atoms.
I was at the Pete Rock vs. Preemo jumpoff the ova day. When Looking at the Front Door came one most folks lost it.
But I’m saying tho, The Four Horsemen was the bidness, my dude.

This new survey is no contest. Murder Dog is by far the only good rap (and music in general!!) magazine left standing.

That Vampire Weekend comment made me spit up my drink in laughter. . . because it’s true in my case, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Never read Murder Dog, and I find Pitchfork impossible to read, so I think I’ll sit this poll out.

Those starter hats are ming boggling.

Fuck Pitchfork!
April 20th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
I voted for pitchfork because murder dog mostly interviews guys who can’t rap and gets them to say they like slick rick, and then we’re supposed to be like, “wow, mr. ignorant redneck rapper is really hip-hop after all because he likes slick rick!” I’m partly being sarcastic but there’s some truth to what I’m saying here… and seriously, next poll – Pimp C vs. Havoc, better rapper/producer. If Pimp C wins I’ll know your readers are nuts.

I vote for Pitchfork because I like when they review not very good Wu Tang semi-rip-off albums from like, 2 years ago.

fruits of nature way underrated

Pitchfork and Murder Dog?! Good lord, can I vote “Oh, Hell No!”?
April 21st, 2008 at 2:11 am
Never got into either of these. Murder Dog has the only non-interesting interview with Killer Mike I’ve ever read or heard, while I can only enjoy pitchfork when they’re in complete orgasm mode, in which case they’re not to be trusted.

given the choices? Pitchfork, definitely. fuck indie rock (and fuck a Vampire Weekend – I’ll stick with the actual African musicians and if I get desperate for nerdy white yuppies there’s always Talking Heads) but it covers a lot of other music that I like. I’m mainly thinking of the great monthly columns on reggae, grime/dubstep, techno & metal – all of which are, unlike a lot of Pitchfork material, written by people who know what the hell they’re talking about. nothing against Murder Dog; I’d vote for it hands down if I was only interested in Southern and West Coast rap.
I think it’s hilarious how blog commenters are constantly going “Fuck Pitchfork!?!” like it’s some kind of evil cabal hell-bent on total music criticism domination. aren’t most of their writers just freelancing?

is there a way to ban the ip addresses of everyone who votes for pitchfork…and “tray” cause he’s just on some constant dumb shit…

Also, Pitchfork is great just because it’s so bad, take this Breihan moment from his Inspiration review (great album by the way):
In Jeezy’s inspirational talk, bravura and fatalism are inextricably intertwined, and insights come almost despite themselves: “We live life on the edge like it’s no tomorrow/ We grind hard like it’s no today/ And do the same shit like it’s yesterday/ The game never stops, so who’s next to play?” There’s wisdom in his ignorance and ignorance in his wisdom.
