All I Have In This World

Cocaineblunts.com & Vibe Present Scarface Ultimate 90
For the new issue of Vibe (Mary J cover) I wrote what they call an Ultimate 90 for Scarface. What it is, I make a 90 minute Scarface pause tape and they run the tracklisting and my comments on the songs. It’s basically my dream gig, as you might imagine. I wish I could make my entire living by just cataloging and annotating the Brad Jordan discography. Anyway, to take things one step further I made an actual mix out of the list and tossed it up here for y’all ingrates. It’s a decent retrospective/selection, I think. Obviously when you’re dealing with such a gigantic catalog, you’re forced to leave some important shit out and I’m sure some lovable fruit fly will go to great measures to point those omissions out. (OMG no FACEMOB?!) Oh well. Included is both sides of his rare debut 12″, a couple lesser known collabs from the early days and some of the more obvious singles. I even threw the two tracks I couldn’t fit into the Vibe piece to round it out to an even 90 minutes (it actually goes a minute over, deal with it).
But with that in mind know this: this is not for your itunepod, homie. You are to record this to a Maxell UR-90 (or better quality) and jam it in your tape deck. If you don’t have a tape deck, please don’t listen to this. I’m dead serious.
And if that wasn’t enough Brad for you, I also have a short thing on his productions in the new Fader. You don’t even have to get up from your computer for that one, you can cop it online.
Please make sure to grab a copy of MADE, it’s really good. And honestly, you would be wise to purchase every Face & GBs tape, lest J. Prince’s bootleg squad finds out you’ve been fucking with his money. Shit if that does come to pass, you don’t know my name, you only know my face.

Damn, missing my favorite Scarface track, “Street Life” off Til Death Do Us Part. Kinda shows how Brad predated pretty much everyone on that whole introspective drug dealer persona everybody is riding off.
“2 To the Head” is far and away the hardest track without Pimp C or M.O.P on it to ever exist.

And re: BR – remember the ‘do they have vibe in waiting rooms‘ debate?
VINDICATED! Take that, Tray.
January 24th, 2008 at 1:31 am
He said a car place. Not a doctor’s waiting room. Of course, I’ve never seen it at a car place either but our dealer is a Nazi out in the country so I wouldn’t expect it.

Did I say doctor’s waiting room? Car places have waiting rooms.

You write for XXL and Vibe? Isn’t that completely treasonous?

Hahaha! I should put that Vibe in my office’s waiting room, then it’ll be official. Roggle-Roggle
But yo, I need to reup on my prison-safe tapes for this. No chrome hi-bias for this joint Young Noz, straight screwless. Glad you put up that flick too, so priceless.

“Anybody got a copy of Straight Gangstaism with the Face verse closing it out? I’ve only ever heard it in the video, cant find it anywhere”
Damn Nickatina, nice, you took the words right out of my keyboard. Except I only heard it on 88.5 WRAS Atlanta’s Rhythm and Vibes the one time. Please Noz, I know there’s a good chance you got this stashed away.

“You write for XXL and Vibe? Isn’t that completely treasonous?”
It would seem you’ve confused the definitions of “treason” and “freelance.”

Great article. And like people have said before, I would kill to get my hands on the version of “Straight Gangstaism” with Scarface on the end.
