One of the many smaller blogs I steal my ideas from reminded me of this track. I had hoped to wait for Crime Mob’s “Circles” to transcend mixtape/net dork favorite status and become a massive hit single, after which I would wow y’all with the original mix. But since the Wea suits have been sitting on “Circles” and their sweaty palms for months (our test markets say ‘low ringtonablity’), I guess now’s as good a time as any to post this. [1]
“Circles” is a Baby Three 6 Mafia inter-gender battle track in theme, so it makes sense that it was originally crafted with Hypnotizers (er ah Prophet Possers) in mind. The original mix of Gangsta Boo’s “Sippin’ & Spinnin” was rowdy get buck shit by the numbers. It took the vision of then relative unknown Doc Jam to flip the accapella on some melancholic chipmunk soul business. Then Crime Mob adapted to that theme.
It would seem Gangsta Boo is now on her rock star shit. I don’t have to tell you how I feel about that.
[1] An official “What should Crime Mob’s next single be?” poll disenchantingly shows considerable favoritism towards the unmemorable “2nd Look.” The people are usually right but in this case they’re wrong. Vote “Circles” in ‘07.

Yeah except bun b hasn’t been doing the same exact thing for the past 15 years like busta has. it amazes me that he maintains relevance to this day.

You musical taste is supreme. This was the shit in 05, and got dammit, i’m voting for “Circles” in 07!…And Gangsta Boo IS kinda hot. One of the top 10 rappers in southern history.
