MAYNHOLUP!’s Ro Of The Week #34

Relvis Presley – “Fuck What U Heard”
Relvis Presley f/ A-Ro – “Successful/Air Forces“
from Relvis Presley – All Freestyles (Mixtape, 2009)
Ahh mayn how yall livin mayn iss Yung John Locke back ta drop some knowledge and hit yall wit dat weekly Z-Ro fiyah mayn!!
Thanksgiving mayn wuz so wonderful becuz it marked de release uv some bran new Mo City Don, dis time goin unda de moniker ‘Relvis Presley’ mos likely cuz R-A-L aint lettin de boi put his name on thangs lately due ta sum label drama. Reception ta de tape been mixed overall mayn, from whut i can tell people frontin like Ro slippin lyrically and recycling too much.
If you axe me doe mayn, de tape iz piff. Ro fans been waitin for a tape like dis since we heard about de scratched ‘Cracc’ mixtape where he go in over otha rappers beats, sum’n Ro not really known ta do (use popular beats dat iz, dont git it twisted). Dis tape iz straight freestyle an it een sounds like iss wun big cypher like he aint een take a break between tracks mayn. Ro’s got a very distinct freestyle delivery mayn, you can tell instantly between a written an sum’n he spit off de dome.
An dass why dis tape iz so refreshin ta me mayn. Iss not at all bout whut he’z sayin mayn, de tape a showcase in de range uv Ro’s voice an his natural ability ta flow on de craziess melodies dat juss come ta him. Listen ta whut he duz on ‘Fuck What U Heard’ afta he flip ‘Row Your Boat’ mo thowed den eva, he juss start flowin iss so organic mayn. Ro alwayz stated how he fell in love wit music juss chillin in a basement sippin an chiefin an juss singing fo hours an dis tape iz a 2009 version uv dat.
De otha track i selected from de record iz called ‘Succesful’ but he only use dat beat long enough ta fix de hook in de undisputed line flip uv de yea hands down (hiz ‘Noone on de corner got swangaz like us” from ‘Rolling on Swangaz’ second). When de beat switch he really murks it too. I cant say im too impressed wit A-Ro, but Z-Ro flows for de majority uv de tape an iss a nice change uv pace ta de focused written lyrics dat make Cocaine so great. Yall can act gully if yall want but dis tape iz on some real natural soulful jumpoff an iss co-sign ta de fulless. Hol up, mayn!

I actually really like this tape, but it’s not something I can listen to every day. It does sound like he just straight sat down and spit the whole thing in one take, which if he did is pretty damn incredible! You don’t hear too many rappers doing actual freestyles these days and Ro is a master at it. Also, I never cease to be amazed that he can make his voice sound screwed even when it isn’t.

..Cant believe theres only two comments but yea Im feelin’ this tape. Really I fucks wit most if not all Ro. I dont like the ones where he just spits long bars Ro’s at his best when he drops a good hook or random singing

i was the one to actually make the regular version. it was slowed down not chopped so all i had to do is speed it up a lil til I got the normal voice.

Good afternoon! Perhaps next column you can write something readable? Or maybe at least write about something worth listening too… that would be swell. Have a nice day. And please turn the music down . The bass rattles my prostate.
Thank you,
