Rocky Balboa

Juvenile f/ B.G. – “What’s Happenin’ (Remix)“
from Way I Be Leanin’ 12″ (Atlantic, 2006)
Rich Boy – “D-Boyz“
from D-Boyz 12″ (Interscope, 2005)
Two relatively recent loosies from Mannie Glover.
“What’s Happenin (Remix)” reunited half the Hot Boys over a Mannie beat to little fanfare. Not exactly mindblowing, but it was nice to hear Juve & BG together doing Sir Mix-a-Lot impressions.
“D-Boyz” is a traditionally infectious Mannie banger featuring Tuskegee drop out Rich Boy kicking half knowledge – “we get fucked by the damn government, ’cause they the ones movin’ the hard white shit“, “we slanging hard cause we couldn’t get a job” – in the same vein of his slept on album closer, “Let’s Get This Paper.” Rich (Boy?) is a pretty smart rapper when he wants to be, but ultimately not a great one. It’s telling that rapping Mannie outshines him on his own track. In his own trap, no less. I’m still not sure why it didn’t make the album, when so much inferior shit did.

Juvy song is hot… Rich Boy is too annoying now, can’t listen to his voice after hearing Throw Some Ds so many times

the “lets get this paper” comment is right on point

Rich Boy is ultimately an awful rapper 99% of the time – I think your standards are (getting?) a little soft.

rich boy is a pretty boring rapper a lot of the time, but he does just absolutely slay on “let’s get this paper”; it’s really the one time on his album where he truly shines, and is not overpowered by the polow beat, although polow’s beat on that song is equally as epic as his rhymes
