Video: Dr. Dre – “Puffin On Blunts…”
Never before seen video for this Chronic era b-side. The unvaulting of the Death Row vaults is now Canada’s greatest contribution to hip hop. Apologies to Maestro Fresh Wes.

Truly made my day

Daaaaaaaamn.
Top 5 never appeared on an album b. side ever and it should’ve been on The Chronic instead of Stranded On Death Row
November 25th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
wow @ kurupt’s verse
btw the new dogg pound is pretty enjoyable
November 25th, 2009 at 6:54 pm

Nicki Minaj wishes she could tuck a shirt like the Lady of Rage.
November 25th, 2009 at 8:32 pm
i miss the old stylee hand movements, jazz hands if you will
November 25th, 2009 at 10:15 pm
That beat was on the Black Mixtape- “there’s rules to this shit..”- was it in circulation otherwise? I always wondered where it came from, I had no doubt it was Dre.
It’s funny how watching this, seeing the Chronic material fresh it strikes you how much they studied the NY paradigm they shattered.
November 25th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
Lady of Rage is so underrated, her lines are so dope. It’s a shame that she doesn’t get more shine because she doesn’t look like a dimepiece. Her verses on The Militia 2 w/ Gangstarr,Rakim, and WC are out of this world as well.

one of my favorite rap songs period….lol at studied ny… ny lost the whole beef and still want to take credit…get the fuck out of here
btw stranded on death row is the shit

DAZ IS LOOKIN LIKE CARLTON IN THIS VIDEO
November 26th, 2009 at 7:33 am
This was definately my favourite era of rapper’s gear but it’s the lil’ homie in the white chronic leaf beanie who kills it the hardest.

^^^^^
What are you talkin bout? You assume I’m riding for NY with my comment? No. Kurupt says himself in this verse “one of my idols ain’t no joke so why the f*ck should I be..” All I’m sayin was in order for the West to come up they had to beat NY at its own game- Rage and Kurupt do just that on this joint here.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
he was talkin about rakim not the whole new york… fyi…watts profets came out before last poets….it aint nys “own game” thats all propoganda
November 26th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
for reals here we are in a moment of westcoast glory watching this vid …takes douchebag east coast nut jugglers like you to even mention new york cuz u cant stand the fact we wear shorts on christmas
November 26th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
“u cant stand the fact we wear shorts on christmas”
well spoken.

Whatever dude. I already said I’m not riding for NY, I’m from the south. You acknowledging the Rakim line proves my point. Other than that, the only nut juggling going on in this thread is coming from your corner. I suggest you keep that to yourself.

On another note, I’ve never seen a video from this early in such high quality – which for me kind of de-historicizes the whole thing and makes it feel less like this great canonical music up on Mount Rushmore and more, I don’t know, relatable, like I can now imagine being around when this came out because I’m not seeing it through this ancient history video blur.
November 26th, 2009 at 7:24 pm
Man, Rage kills it, Kurupt kills it.
Whatever happened to the Lady of Rage? She never got as much credit as she deserved, always hit hard as fuck.
November 27th, 2009 at 11:11 am
Who is that token ginger cracka in this? He’s in the Let Me Ride video too
November 27th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
The white guy with red head in the Let me Ride video is also in this one.. lol..who the fuck was he? The engineer?
November 27th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
Has to be the engineer or one of Dre’s studio musicians.
Either way, his two appearances are not exactly video cameos of the Donovan “The Dirt Biker” Smith appearing in CPO & MC Ren’s Ballad Of A Menace video calibre, are they?
November 27th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
This made my Black Friday too. I believe that white was Colin Wolfe, who was Dre’s right-hand leading up to arrival of Daz, Warren, Soopafly, and later Sam Sneed, and Carl “Butch” Small.
How could Suge not have put this out earlier? Especially on those wack “enhanced CDs” from a decade ago?
I’m buying this pronto.
Fav. Daz verse, ever.
Probably in my top 5 fav. Dre beats ever.

cocaineblunts comments section proving the east coast/west coast rivalry is still painfully salient to a few.

^^^^^^
Yo, that fool is the dude who owned the main lowrider in the two videos. I remember reading a Source article that stated Suge was mad as hell that the dude wanted shine in the video. They had to let him in though cause he wouldn’t let him use his cars if they didn’t.
November 28th, 2009 at 1:04 am
I remember a source interview- i think it was from the issue with a black and white photo of dre holding a gun to his head- in which dre was being interviewed on the set to this video. I always wondered why it never came out. Great to see it finally getting a bit of shine; as everyone above has stated, this song is incredible!
November 28th, 2009 at 1:38 am
smh @ kurupt just blacking out for 2 minutes straight
November 28th, 2009 at 9:03 am
I feel like Kurupt needs a well crafted mixtape that spans his whole career, dude has been inconsistent at times but has had a pretty incredible career if you look at his overall output.
I think Blaqkout has been steadily reminding me just how nice dude has always been.
November 28th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
holllly shit
made my day too. amazing.
I was hopin snoop would bust though.
November 28th, 2009 at 5:06 pm

November 30th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Kurupt rocking the Mariners hat
November 30th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
yeah the white cat was car-related iirc.
funny bit of trivia about this record, Rage’s verse made “Rhyme Of The Month” in The Source, but misquoted in typical fashion. they wrote:
as long as eyes and hours on the dime
I think they got corrected in a letter next issue.
December 1st, 2009 at 3:46 pm
aint that lil c style?
^^^^
I don’t know about lil c-style but I for sure see big c-style in there. I used to intern at Echo Sounds at in Glendale and he would be there recording all the time. Muthafucker couldn’t even read and shit. I was told to never ask him to sign anything or give him a menu to order food and shit!
December 1st, 2009 at 11:01 pm
David: Hispanic guy. It’s Krazy D.
December 2nd, 2009 at 1:26 pm
yea i knew the answer..it was a trick question
December 3rd, 2009 at 4:40 am
If I’m not mistaken, this was the b-side to the ‘Dre Day’ single.
And yeah, it’s wild that they never released this video. I’m sure they coulda done a nice (albeit less hard-hitting) radio version and dropped this one in between ‘Dre Day’ and ‘Let Me Ride’.
-D!
December 7th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
There are two white dudes: a redheaded guy (who either owned or was looking after the cars) and an unidentified brown-haired dude just lurking in the background. Plus, there’s one Latino guy drinking Zima, if I’m not mistaken. The inclusion of these three figures in this lost video of an incredible track has MADE MY FUCKING DAY.
