SOME SHIT YOU NEVER HEARD Week
A lot of warped LPs, look at how they swerve…
The concept of rare music has been nearly obliterated by the internet. Last night I was casually listening to thousand dollar Japanese psych obscurities that I wouldn’t have dreamed of hearing in my past, pre-rapidshare life. Unimpressed. But despite this new reality, plenty of unturned stones remain. Hip hop in particular isn’t even close to being fully documented. This is the true reason this site exists, I’m not simply here to alert you to the arrival of new Gucci Mane mixtapes.
In the early days of CB I was posting rare and unheard music daily. Of course that’s no longer a possibility. At least not with out throwing quality control out the window. (Certain rare music blogs I see you.) But for at least for this week I’m trying to get back to CB’s roots and break some rare ass records and tapes that likely can’t be found anywhere on the internet. Good to great ones, hopefully.
And let me know in the comments if you have any requests. I can try my best to fill them.

This site actually changed my life by posting an unedited “Ain’t That a Bitch,” because I was getting to a point where I believed an unedited version didn’t actually exist.
By that same token, I’m under the impression(and I recall you alluding to it in your XXL days) that a version of the Jay/Just Blaze “Don’t You Know” mixtape track contained some sort of controversial third verse at one point, if that does in fact exist, and you got your hands on it, it is at the top of my request list.
October 12th, 2009 at 11:16 am
I’ll be shocked if you have a track I don’t, but since you’re all about nominating Saafir to NPR you should break out some unreleased rarities.
October 12th, 2009 at 11:22 am
I would really like to put my ears on those pre-75 girls too short & freddy b tracks.
October 12th, 2009 at 11:40 am
I’d really love to hear some of that “Live From Harris County Jail” stuff. I can’t find it anywhere.
October 12th, 2009 at 11:41 am
The full extended version of Black Rob’s “Whoa” unedited.
October 12th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Nas – Deja Vu in CDQ. But I guess that’s pretty much asking for a miracle.
October 12th, 2009 at 12:14 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 12:22 pm

Any old Mobb Deep? From Cop Hell days?
October 12th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
Seconded on the early Too $hort.
Wouldn’t say no to an mp3 of Your Hoe by Devin or some of the post-Fear Itself, pre-Stimulated Records Casual, either.
October 12th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Don’t know if youve ever heard of him but some old Rich the Factor stuff is impossible to find, the original Black Border Brothers album and Pole Position Ep
October 12th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
“a version of the Jay/Just Blaze “Don’t You Know” mixtape track contained some sort of controversial third verse at one point”
You know, I distinctly remember this leaking sometime around last year and being completely disappointed by how lukewarm the lost verse was. But I can’t find the file on my external and I’m having no luck on google. Maybe I hallucinated the experience and it still hasn’t actually leaked?
“Any old Mobb Deep? From Cop Hell days?”
I’ve always wanted to hear the Poetical Prophets demo that got them unsigned hype. But really I’ve got nothing. The Juvenile Hell album isn’t very good anyway.
“Your Hoe by Devin”
Don’t know that one, I don’t think.
“The full extended version of Black Rob’s “Whoa” unedited.”
Never heard of it.
“Nas – Deja Vu in CDQ. But I guess that’s pretty much asking for a miracle.”
Yep.
Everything else you guys have requested so far I think I got you though. Keep ‘em coming.

Here is my wishlist:
- Happy Hour album by Cee-Lo & Jazze Phae.

- Field Mob demo tape.
October 12th, 2009 at 5:49 pm
listening session of the unreleased UGK he has**
October 12th, 2009 at 9:01 pm
- ANYTHING from Parental Advisory
- OG too $hort
Either of these would bring a smile to my face, especially if I can get a full album…
Super wishlist-
-Warlox Demo
-Children of the Corn Demo (Murda Mase, Killa Cam, Bloodshed, Big L)

“So Fresh, So Clean (Stankonia Remix)”
Is that the one with Snoop? It sucks but I will see if I still have the 12″.
October 13th, 2009 at 1:19 am
the unreleased, “gaybashing” version of “The Business” (Tribe/Brand Nubian) is one of those tracks I´ve only heard about but never heard …
also, there´s a LOT of rarely heard Bubba Sparxxx stuff out there. Some of it is pretty good too (thinking bsides, remixes from the Beat Club days, but also his pre-Timbaland stuff).
October 13th, 2009 at 2:20 am
Anything UGK from the Ridin Dirty/Dirty Money era….And Both of the Smoked Out Records cds. RIP LIl Derrick
October 13th, 2009 at 2:56 am
got any rare 2 live crew songs like “yakety yak”?
How about the stuff ice mike and bust down recorded together?
Nautilus without the bells?
October 13th, 2009 at 3:11 am
You didn’t hallucinate the U Don’t Know incident, you probably just deleted the file after 1 listen like everyone else who heard it.
Your Hoe was the other Devin track which Dre did for Just Tryin Ta Live. Lord only knows why it didn’t make the cut or, indeed, what happened to the disc i put it on.
Another request : the 3 tracks by The Fedz from that late 90s Suave House sampler, maybe?
October 13th, 2009 at 3:49 am
Speakin of Ice Mike, I would rather hear some more of his later stuff (Ice Mike Entertainment), and his production work. that Code 6 joint is fire : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXfP0mdZabQ -if he put out anything else in this vein I would love to hear it).
October 13th, 2009 at 5:09 am
You can get those the fedz songs if you just google “Suave House The Album Of The Year 1997″
And that devin “your hoe” could be “yo ho” from that weed wine and women bootleg/mixtape?
My request is a full tape rip of Point Blankk Range – Check Me EP
October 13th, 2009 at 6:17 am
That record that supposedly was Master P and them dissing Cash Money under another name? They invented a whole new label (Lets Go Get Em Records) and I think they were called the Wild Boyz or something
October 13th, 2009 at 6:43 am
Also any pre-Public Enemy stuff (Spectrum City, Townhouse Three etc) …maybe not the Vanguard 12 cause that one is out there already (and not that hard to find on vinyl either), but live Spectrum City radio tapes or the one jam with Spectrum City and Townhouse Three called C13 or something like that).
October 13th, 2009 at 11:20 am
Now I’m just overwhelmed. I’ll see what I can do.
I don’t think No Limit was actually involved with the Wild Boyz record.
October 13th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
And that devin “your hoe” could be “yo ho” from that weed wine and women bootleg/mixtape?
Aha. A quick look at Youtube has revealed there is a version on there called Yo’ Bitch from some bootleg Devin mixtape type thing. It was definately called Your Hoe (as it says in the hook) when it hit the ‘net back in ‘02 alongside the o.g version of Right Now, though.
This is the track, Noz :

Man, the way the 3 Fedz songs from that Suave House sampler sounded in my friend’s car 6 years ago > the way they sound through my laptop speakers now.
October 13th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
Oh man I totally forgot about this Devin song. Classic. Let me see if I can dig up my old mp3.
October 13th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
Early Todd Shaw for sure! If there is anything out there still exisiting on tape. In interviews he and Freddy B mentioned they made custom tapes where they gave shout outs to the people who bought them.
Really looking forward for your posts!

Dear Noz,
I´m checking your great cb website regularly for about a year now. Recently I took the time to go through your complete archives. And I was really amazed how much rare stuff you posted back in 2004, 05, 06! Stuff that is nowhere else to be found. So your complaint from last year seems to me really not valid:
“Years ago I could post something obvious and merely out of print and dudes would send me rambling emails thanking me profusely and reminiscing about how they’d been looking for these tracks since they first heard them (’…) Now it’s “Pshaw we got that Noz. Where the album at? I pulled it off blogspot months ago.”
I´m pretty sure that a lot of folks would be thankful and really glad, especially the new readers like me, if you could repost some stuff. You still got so much unbelievably rare tracks, and Google says, only Cocaineblunts has / had em. I could ask you for hundreds of mp3´s!
But especially I would request these:
Ghostface Killah – “Break Beatz 2“
Ghostface Killah – “Break Beatz 3““Break Beatz 1?
from Supreme Clientle Snippet Tape (Epic, 1999)
Hell, I would love to have the complete snippet tape!
The Roots f/ Project Pat – “Should I“
from Phrenology Sessions Unreleased (Geffen, 2002)
Simply II Positive – Feelin’ Good (Demo)
Ras Kass – “Articulate Thugs” (unreleased, 2001) prod by alchemist, not on van gogh promo
Outkast: “Gangsta Shit (Original)“
from Stankonia Advance (Arista, 2000)
It would be great if you could somehow repost these mp3s!
It would be highly appreciated.
Your vaults are deep!
Peace,
scjoha

“You didn’t hallucinate the U Don’t Know incident, you probably just deleted the file after 1 listen like everyone else who heard it.”
Does anybody have this then? You know, for archival purposes.
October 13th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
Rich the Factor made a ep with jt the bigga figga in 95 on Get Low called Gettin a Grip and then he did his own independent thing, he’s from KC and his music is hard to find
October 13th, 2009 at 11:02 pm

October 13th, 2009 at 11:02 pm

October 14th, 2009 at 7:38 am
Re : U Don’t Know.
If i remember correctly, it was someone on either the Philaflava forum or T.R.O.Y blog who upped that version. Your best bet would be to ask there, i guess.
