New Rap Music
Some short takes for today. My computer is crawling. Besides. it’s too sunny outside to blog at length.
Beanie Sigel – “In The Ghetto”
from The Broad Street Bully
The new Beans is on Amazon already but I don’t have $9. It sounds good though. He is one of the greatest rappers of all time.
Z-Ro f/ C-Ward – “Rollin’ On Swangas“
from Heroin (Rap-A-Lot, Coming Soon)
You alreddy know, maynn.
G-Side f/ PT of Untamed – “My Aura”
from Huntsville Interational (Mixtape, Coming Soon)
When you make an album as close to perfect as Starshipz it gives you freedom to be more playful on your mixtapes. HI is shaping up to show some very different g-sides. This is borderline disco rap.
Juvenile – “Gotta Get It“
Produced by the legendary DJ Precise, Juve is rapping in form once again. He says “Stickabush” on here, which I am inaccurately interpreting as a De La reference. (Hey dude did namedrop Bahamadia once.)
Lil B – “Enter The Based“
It’s an unavoidable law of blog dynamics. Shout me and I’ll shout you back. My apologies to ethics. I would have probably posted this anyway.
Willie Isz – “Gosohaurd (Milky Way Mix by Dr. Who Dat?)”
Toaster in my holster / cosmic dust in my tank
The Undergodz (Keith Murray & Canibus) f/ Crooked I – “Show & Prove“
I like this way more than I probably should. It might be time for a full on Keith Murray revival. Canibus, not so much.
Gucci Mane – “I Got All Of That“ FUCKWMG
Apocalyptic Zaytoven > Goofy Zaytoven.
Young Cash f/ Gucci Mane – “Ask Me If I Give A Fuck“FUCKWMG
Why do these relative unknowns keep letting Gucci rhyme first on their records? They know damn well we’re not going to play the track out to hear their weak verse.
Freddie Gibbs – “County Bounce“
from midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik (Mixtape, Coming Soon)
It’s amazing how effortless Gibbs makes creating great street rap seem.

ah mayn im bout ta lay back on dis sunday mayn wit dat bama tape and deze heataz righ here mayn
August 23rd, 2009 at 2:02 pm
I think i might prefer My Aura to G. Mane & G-Side’s No One Duz It Betta and i absolutely love the latter.
Good to have Beanie back on form (though his verses on those State Prop’ tracks from last year were nuts) but whatever happened to Peedi and the album he was supposed to be leaking?
August 23rd, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Freddie GIbbs is killing it. that shit is too smooth.
August 23rd, 2009 at 2:24 pm
MF
whatever happened to Peedi and the album he was supposed to be leaking?
^^^^^
From the ‘Free Peedi’ talk on that Young Chris tape it sounds like he’s locked up..

It’s kinda odd to see precise produce a bouncy track because he was more into g-funk influenced rap back in 95.
I think this lil b song is his best so far.

g-side/blockbeataz/huntsville are slowly making similar moves to outkast/organized noise/dungeon family circa-2000. while they’re a long way off from perfecting such a singular sound in the way that whole collective did, it’s exciting as hell to watch these experiment so successfully with new sounds and ideas.

Ain’t no “borderline” about it, that new G-Side track is total space disco.
August 23rd, 2009 at 3:32 pm
the beans and juvenille tracks are amongst the best of their careers
August 23rd, 2009 at 5:53 pm
juvenile track is dope but ‘best of his career’????
August 23rd, 2009 at 7:18 pm
average all the way around till i got to that last track…dope shit…..oh honey sample…that space disco shitwas cool…dope hook…i see the organized noize comparison…except gside rappers suck…good song tho just very weak style and lyrics rapping…just myopinion
August 23rd, 2009 at 7:33 pm
Everything I’ve heard from the new Gibbs tape sounds incredible and incredibly different from Miseducation. This guy could be next.
August 23rd, 2009 at 9:39 pm
Noz,
You once mentioned that you had songs off the last Beans album that weren’t on the retail. Any chance you’ll post those?
August 23rd, 2009 at 9:44 pm
I gotta ask: What song did Juvie name drop Bahamadia on?
August 23rd, 2009 at 10:41 pm
That new Beans could easily be written off as just another “tales from the ghetto” track, but Beans makes it unique somehow; that’s fucking talent right there… I’m not feeling the G-Side at all, even though I usually big up anything outta Bama… Gucci & Zaytoven kill it again… Who produced the Lil B track? That shit is crazy spaced out, but in a good way… Gibbs is amazing!… I want to hear Ro shout out MAYN, lol.
Btw, I’ve been in Korea all summer and CB & BLVD ST have been my only sources of new rap. Thanks and keep it coming!
August 23rd, 2009 at 10:42 pm
“What song did Juvie name drop Bahamadia on?”
Z-Ro’s “The Mule”
“You once mentioned that you had songs off the last Beans album that weren’t on the retail. Any chance you’ll post those?”
I thought I did but it turns out my songs were just all mislabeled.
August 23rd, 2009 at 11:20 pm
I remember the Juvenile verse in the Mule and actual thought of it as a reference but was never too sure. Dope shit either way!
August 24th, 2009 at 12:51 am
Does anyone remember the original version of the Mule with a totally different beat that was much better than the album version?
August 24th, 2009 at 7:18 am
there’s a different, more electronic, version of The Mule on Chamillionaire’s ‘Houston we have a problem’ compilation – is that the one?
August 24th, 2009 at 8:24 am
Didn’t Drumma Boy produce “I Got All Of That?”
Also: couldn’t agree more on Beans. I remember when you stuck him on your list of underrated rappers, wayyyy back when, in the heady early POB days — I actually pumped my fist in the air.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:07 am
all deez straight fire, man. that willie isz is a crazy beat, tho.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:18 am
Pleasantly surprised by the undergodz jawn, and “all of that” has got to be zaytoven’s best beat ever
August 24th, 2009 at 11:21 am
fader with the top billin damn
August 24th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
>> i see the organized noize comparison…except gside rappers suck

“>> i see the organized noize comparison…except gside rappers suck

2 lettaz verse on 6 tre g’s “feel the (chris brown)” is one of my favorite verses of the year.
“2 lettaz miyagi, my trunk is a dojo”
August 25th, 2009 at 12:09 am
RE: Lil B track. More young rappers should make Penn and Teller references. Are those guys still household names?
If that G-Side song is borderline disco rap, aren’t all the uptempo Outkast songs w/ Sleepy on ‘em too?
August 25th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
Follow The Light by Dungeon Fam’ and My Aura sound so good played next to one another.
August 25th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
Hopefully Ro doesn’t have a of of guest spots on HEroin. not really feeling c.ward contribution. more 1 deep !!!
August 25th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
“If that G-Side song is borderline disco rap, aren’t all the uptempo Outkast songs w/ Sleepy on ‘em too?”
Definitely.
August 26th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Damn. How anyone can claim that ST is wack is completely beyond me. Dude’s one of the best rappers out right now. The man shines on every single track he’s on.
August 26th, 2009 at 11:52 pm
from what i’ve heard, it sounds like “midwestgangsta…” will be on par with, if not better than “the miseducation…”
August 28th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
Damn Freddie going hard.
