imma big fan of chicago house…im a big fan of hiphop…but hiphouse pretty much sucks…well i could bump the instramentals in a nice mix i suppose…i dunno its a genre
i think shouldnot have happened…im waiting for gangsta-electro to come back, and no, chromeo doesnt count..
Jupiter´s Critic And The Mind Of Mars = gangsta electro? (am I the only dude who actually liked that joint?)
Also, I like hiphouse as far as beats go, but was there ever a hip house record with good or even just decent rapping on it? Not counting any post 95 stuff (even though most of that is pretty lazy too, there´s a few exceptions, like the RZA/I:Cube track). The closest I can come up with would be Special Ed “Come On Let´s Move It”, but I don´t think that counts as a hiphouse record.
I’ll never understand why Fast Eddie & Tyree Cooper & whoever else decided to ruin raw, jacking Chicago acid w/laughably subpar rapping. tho I mean, it’s close to the original hip hop ethos, straight party music. straight thru to Dance Mania, juke, Bmore club, etc. anyway “I’ll House You” is a great record (Todd Terry was the king really). so is Silvah Bullet – “20 Seconds to Comply”.
interesting Chicago Hip House Documentary (!) – all the big names interviewed, tons of awesome late 80s New Jack City haircuts, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2zNvBNTnHg
D´oh, how could I overlook “I´ll House You”? I guess also “it´s time to party” is a pretty good hip house record, even if it is a subpar EPMD record. “20 seconds to comply” was not a hip house record tho. one more contender: “On The club tip” King Sun.
no “20 Seconds to Comply” isn’t strictly a hip house record – more like fast rap crossed with proto-breakbeat hardcore – but it’s close enough. that whole era of hardcore British rap (MC Duke, Demon Boyz, Hijack, Gunshot) is pretty underrated.
nigga youz a hoe and your mommas my bottom bitch….this nigga posting house so why not gangsta electro??? nigga put on “this is somethin to dance to ” by nwa and learn somethiin bitch

I don’t know enough about the genre. Maybe I will just commission a CJ Mackintosh remix of this: http://www.cocaineblunts.com/blunts/?p=1637

Not strictly hip house but definitely from the same era. I’m surprised no one is namechecking King Sun D Moet:

I always thought of the ‘club tip’ sub genre as being kind of a new york version of hip house.
