Penthouse Players Clique – “Droppen Bombs“
from They Don’t Know 12″ (Alias Records, 1990)
I’m on my LA shit.
Penthouse Players Clique consisted of MCs Playa Hamm and Tweed Cadillac and the legendary DJ Quik. I told you before how their first and only LP, Paid The Cost… was one of many in a long line of classic and shamefully out of print extra-NWA Ruthless releases. But before signing with Mr, Rourke and Tattoo (just playing… RIP Eazy), PPC released this, their first 12″ on Alias records. The A-Side, “They Don’t Know” turned up as a bonus cut on Paid The Cost, but as far as I know “Droppen’(sp) Bombs” is otherwise unreleased. It catches crew before they smoothed out their style on the pimp tip, instead kicking some of that “fast rap” madness that the kids love these days.
Well… replace “kids” with “35 year old overseas ebay bidders” and “love” with “desire.”

This is history right there. Those classic groups that set the foundation should never be forgotten. It reminds me of whats goin on now with them Triggastate cats down south in FLA http://www.Triggastate.com

Nice, I was hoping you were the one who picked this up! Thanks for sharing. Is this Quik’s first release (outside of mixtapes)?
