“Fadanuf…” Fa Erybody

Just a quick heads up – Rap-a-Lot has finally not given Odd Squad’s (Devin The Dude, Jugg Mugg & Rob Quest) classic album Fadanuf Fa Erybody the reissue treatment. Bad news for the ebay slangers, good news for everybody else. Bad news for everybody – it’s only a chopped and screwed version of the album, not a reissue of the original release. Legend has it that Scarface considers this the labels best release. I don’t know if I completely agree with that assessment, but it’s pretty damn great and you should own it. Now somebody tell Lil’ J to bring The Convicts, Big Mello, Ganksta Nip and The Terrorists back to stores. And I’m not talking about half assed chopped and screwed versions either.

In related news, word is that the recently reunited Terrorists are about to sign with Rap-A-Lot for the release of a new album.

actually – the review makes it seem like it is c&s. i haven’t seen a copy in stores. can someone with a hard copy verify before i order it?

Prolly chopped & screwed…songs are in the wrong order from the og. Plus they had c&s versions of the first devin the dude, big mike and tmt cd’s. And I think the only one ever re-issued in regular version was the Devin…my guess is it would be too costly to pay and clear samples on these projects now a days. Still waiting on that Willie D “Controversy” re-issue.

I work for the distributor of Rap-a Lot and it is the Chopped and screwed version. I have been telling them people want the real deal reissued, but there are clearance issues, so I think there is some loophole with reissuing chopped and screwed versions only.

This is a great blog. I heard about UGK from this blog and went on to get all their albums, and also heard about Bus Driver and went to see him. I guess UGK was more popular in the 90’s but I don’t know how I missed them.
Of course I lived in the bay area in the late eighties, early nineties and totally missed Too Short until much later.

Rob Quest = best blind rapper ever.

The Re-issue treatment still does no justice to the work, but I guess its better than having the work disapear into the annals of our consciousness.
