YBM (Playboy Tre) f/ Mark Twayne – “What’s Goin’ On

from So So Def Bass All Stars Vol. 3 (So So Def, 1998)

DX just put up a Playboy Tre profile I wrote for them. If you read this blog with any regularity then you’ve already downloaded Liquor Store Mascot, so lets get a little deeper with this early Tre contribution to the third So So Def Bass compilation. Released under the moniker Young Black Male and featuring Mark Twayne from the Youngbloodz, “What’s Goin’ On” is a thoughtful, dare I say conscious, bass record that would make Kilo proud.

What is Mark Twayne’s relation to Khujo Goodie? Are they blood relatives or just pals? From “Thought Process” “…and my little cuz Mark Twayne..”

I think one of the producers of the YBM joint was like one of Kilo’s main producers (Carl Dorsey?). Allmusic.com also lists DJ Paul
