When It Rains It Pours

PEACE – “Rainin‘”
from Sounds of The Goodlife Tape (?, 199?)
Mikah 9 f/ PEACE – “Viles
from Citrus Sessions (Free for Download @ Mykanyne.com, 2006)

This is going to be quick today. Because I like them, here are Mp3s from PEACE of Freestyle Fellowship. This isn’t the first time I’ve covered the fellowship here, so check the archives if you don’t what the fuck i’m talking about.

The Southern connection of the blowed and perhaps the most under appreciated MC out of the crew, PEACE’s two official solo albums Southern Fry’d Chicken and Megabyte were a mixed bag, but he’s undeniably a style monster. He was noticeably nearly absent from the Fellowship’s 2001 comeback Temptations and I think the album suffered because of it.

The two selections loosely bookend P’s career. “Rainin’ is from the very rare Sounds of the Goodlife tape and “Viles” is from Myka’s Citrus Sessions, available as a free download from his website. (The rest of the album’s got too much of a hippie sing song thing going and not enough rapping for my tastes, but for free ninety nine I’m not really complaining).

On the subject on Blowed stuff: Busdriver’s next album is apparently coming out on Epitaph (weird fit) and is going to be produced by Nobody and Boom Bip. I’m pretty interested in hearing how Bus’ collabos with Boom Bip will turn out… last time I heard him produce for an MC was with doseone for “Circle”, and that album’s a classic in my eyes.

peace jumped out for a few tracks at a recent aceyalone/abstract root/pharoah monch show in sf and the crowd went nuts. ace1 and peace were crazy on point, and made me wonder what i’d been missing since the glory days of ff. thanks for this, perfect timing. (pharoah’s new shit’s sounding pretty wack, btw.)

Probably becasue that fool socks his fans after shows(storryville S.F. 2002) and wild’s out on the regular at frsico house party’s obnoxiously grabbing chics, FOR REAL. PEACE got hella props in the bay before he literally went crazy and ostracized himself from the fellowship. Hope he recovers.

  19. donioun Says:

dude, how the fuck did I miss Abstract Root? slipping!

  20. Cheek Says:
