Recorded during the Too Hard To Swallow sessions, Banned consists of two (and a half cuts) that were scrapped (and probably rightfully so) by Jive at the time. “Pregnant Pussy” stands out as what I’d consider the most hilarious and beautifully vulgar rap songs ever recorded. And trust me, I’ve heard my fair share of very obscene hip hop. I don’t think anything I could say would adequately prepare you for what you’re about to hear.
The EP’s other full cut, “Mutha Ain’t Mine” is pretty tame in comparison- just your standard issue coat hanger abortion raps. Cop the CD from amazon.

Pregnant Pussy follows closely in the tradition of early Texas horror core-type shit. To me it’s kind of a precursor to “I think I’m the one that’s doin’ dope” from Too Hard To Swallow. For more of this style, definitely check out GANKSTA N.I.P’s first album on Rap-a-lot. Pretty much everybody in Houston was doing this type of shit at the time. While “Pregnant Pussy” is fairly disgusting, I always found N.I.P.’s stuff to be a little darker. Scarface had several verses in this style back then, as well as Bushwick and Seagram. Check for a track called “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” from N.I.P.s first album for a nice, dark possse cut featuring Face, NIP, and Seagram. Like Serg said, SMilitary, BAM and KRino were doing this same-type stuff, but none were quite as graphic to me.
Back to UGK though, very nice post on this one. When will we get The Southern Way? That would be impressive.
