Grey Matter

Trae f/ Bun B & Lil Keke – “Grey Cassette“
from Streets Advocate (Mixtape, 2008)
Lil Keke – “Pimp The Pen (Screwed)“
from DJ Screw’s 3 In The Mornin Pt 2 (Mixtape, 1996?)
I’m obligated to post any rap song about listening to cassettes. Even when the artists lose track of the subject and start talking the usual H-Town cliches. Still, on the whole, it bangs. Is there a line left from “Pimp The Pen” that has yet to be flipped for a chorus?
Off Trae’s forthcoming Streets Advocate.

Houston pays homage, a lot of their choruses are sampled from H-town classics. Its similar to how Cash Money use to grab Cash Money bars for their choruses.
//Also Houston rap scene is extensive, I’ve been sleeping. 50/50 Twin, Lil C, Big Pokey, Ginny B, J- Dawg…………

I always thought he said “pop in your break cassette” on Pimp The Pen.

“what are the top 3 dj screw tapes?”
I’d say
1. 3 N the Mornin part 2 (red)
2. 3 N the Mornin part 2 (blue)
3. 3 N the Mornin part 1
These seem to be the most thought-out, complete tapes he made, I would really like to be proved wrong though.
