given the choices? Pitchfork, definitely. fuck indie rock (and fuck a Vampire Weekend – I’ll stick with the actual African musicians and if I get desperate for nerdy white yuppies there’s always Talking Heads) but it covers a lot of other music that I like. I’m mainly thinking of the great monthly columns on reggae, grime/dubstep, techno & metal – all of which are, unlike a lot of Pitchfork material, written by people who know what the hell they’re talking about. nothing against Murder Dog; I’d vote for it hands down if I was only interested in Southern and West Coast rap.

I think it’s hilarious how blog commenters are constantly going “Fuck Pitchfork!?!” like it’s some kind of evil cabal hell-bent on total music criticism domination. aren’t most of their writers just freelancing?

Never got into either of these. Murder Dog has the only non-interesting interview with Killer Mike I’ve ever read or heard, while I can only enjoy pitchfork when they’re in complete orgasm mode, in which case they’re not to be trusted.
