"Word… Life took second, which is to be expected, though I personally find that record a little overrated. A couple great tracks but mostly filler."
One song equals mostly?

Also, Pitchfork is great just because it's so bad, take this Breihan moment from his Inspiration review (great album by the way):

In Jeezy's inspirational talk, bravura and fatalism are inextricably intertwined, and insights come almost despite themselves: "We live life on the edge like it's no tomorrow/ We grind hard like it's no today/ And do the same shit like it's yesterday/ The game never stops, so who's next to play?" There's wisdom in his ignorance and ignorance in his wisdom.

given the choices? Pitchfork, definitely. fuck indie rock (and fuck a Vampire Weekend - I'll stick with the actual African musicians and if I get desperate for nerdy white yuppies there's always Talking Heads) but it covers a lot of other music that I like. I'm mainly thinking of the great monthly columns on reggae, grime/dubstep, techno & metal - all of which are, unlike a lot of Pitchfork material, written by people who know what the hell they're talking about. nothing against Murder Dog; I'd vote for it hands down if I was only interested in Southern and West Coast rap.

I think it's hilarious how blog commenters are constantly going "Fuck Pitchfork!?!" like it's some kind of evil cabal hell-bent on total music criticism domination. aren't most of their writers just freelancing?

Never got into either of these. Murder Dog has the only non-interesting interview with Killer Mike I've ever read or heard, while I can only enjoy pitchfork when they're in complete orgasm mode, in which case they're not to be trusted.
