Political correctness is fucking great. It might be clumsy, and while it might sometimes give stupid people an excuse to get offended for reasons that really come from their own idiocy, but it’s also the reason that white people can’t go around addressing black people as “nigger” and “boy,” why nobody calls me a halfbreed, why women have to be talked to like they’re actual people, and so forth. And that’s goddamn great, because the distance between what we say and what we think or do is so small, and even now we’re living in a world where people are getting killed just for being black, or Latin, or gay, or Arab.

And I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with jokes and so forth – context is important, my girl calls me a mutt and it’s affectionate, some guy I don’t know calls me a mutt and motherfucker is getting bodied – and I’m not saying anything’s wrong with bitches & hos tracks, which are generally cartoonish and silly and it’s not like we believe Dr. Dre talking shit on The Chronic 2001 when he’d been married since 1996 and so forth.

But we’re talking about real shit here, and there are thousands of women getting abused or worse every fucking day, which is probably part of why most rappers who are trying to seem at all serious keep their pimpery absurd and don’t go past “smack a bitch.”

This shit is speaking approvingly of the long-term, systemic, vicious brutalization of women, and that’s fucked up.
