Never before seen video for this Chronic era b-side. The unvaulting of the Death Row vaults is now Canada’s greatest contribution to hip hop. Apologies to Maestro Fresh Wes.

Better late than never, I recently wrote a short feature about the life and unfortunate passing of DJ Roc Raida over at NPR. As with the Bun B piece, I wanted to highlight a few of the interviews I conducted here at CB, to get a little more in depth into Raida’s legacy. First up is Raida’s friend and fellow DMC champion DJ A-Trak.
Noz: How much of an influence did Raida have on DJing?
A-Trak: Raida was a huge influence on DJing especially battle DJing. As a battle DJ he was one of the DJs with the best stage presence. [He had] an air of confidence that when he was doing his routines it looked so easy. He was so fast and it looked like he was just sort of born to do this thing. He brought back a lot of the classic New York hip hop battling, boombastic attitude. On a more technical level he advanced the art of beat juggling a lot. The way that he would freak two copies of a record and make a new beat out of it was really advanced. He was doing a bunch of stuff – playing records backwards, flipping records on 45 and making a whole new beat out of it. That’s a lot of the progress that he brought. (more…)

I’m so fucking dumb I wear diamonds on my thumbs
it’s a diamond on my dick, so that’s a diamond on her tongue
I can’t feel you baby, ’cause I’m romantically numb
emotionally drained, I came here just so I could cum
Gucci beats Drake at his own honest misogynist game. Via TNT.
And in world news:
“Gucci wants to flood the streets, takeover,” DJ Holiday said. “The mixtape is called The Cold War, and it’ll be a three-part series, [subtitled] Guccimerica, Great Brrritain and BurrRussia. They’re droppin’ Saturday at 10:17 p.m.”
Flocka has a new tape today as well.

Via Meaning Of Dope, a definite best new rap blog contender. Dudes are actually contributing unique footage and music to the internet, rather than just passing around the same zshare links and press releases in circles.
BTW, does somebody want to explain an easy (and preferably cheap) way to transfer VHS to youtube on a Macbook? MOD has got me itching to dig through the old Rap City tapes I have at my folks house.
